Robert Egger

Founder and President, DC Central Kitchen

Robert is the Founder and President of DC Central Kitchen / Campus Kitchens Project. DCCK collects food donated by local foodservice businesses and farmers and prepares 5,000 meals per day. This process is driven by formerly incarcerated or homeless men and women enrolled in DCCK’s internationally recognized job training program. Since opening, DCCK has produced 23 million meals and helped 800 people get jobs. Robert was the founding Chair of the Mayor’s Commission on Nutrition, Street Sense (DC’s “homeless” newspaper) and was the Co-Convener of the first Nonprofit Congress. His book, Begging for Change won the 2005 McAdams Prize.
