Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative, Chair of the G77, Republic of Sudan

Lumumba Di-Aping is the ambassador and deputy permanent representative, chair of the G77 Permanent Mission of the Republic of the Sudan to the United Nations. He has the responsibility of coordinating the G77 and China positions and acting as the spokesperson on pressing issues. At the United Nations Climate Change Conference in 2009, he gained international notoriety for his criticism of proposed measures to keep average global temperature rises to two degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels and led the G77-China group in withdrawing its cooperation from the negotiations.
