David Saperstein

Director and Legal Counsel, Union for Reform Judaism’s Religious Action Center

David Saperstein is a rabbi, lawyer, and Jewish community leader. He has served as the director and legal counsel at the Union for Reform Judaism's Religious Action Center for 35 years. Newsweek has called him the most influential rabbi in America and the Washington Post described him as “the quintessential religious lobbyist on Capitol Hill.”  Long involved in environmental issues, he was the founding chair of the Interfaith Coalition on Energy and a founding board member of the National Religious Partnership on the Environment, and the Coalition on Environment and Jewish Life. In 2009, he was appointed to the first White House Advisory Council on Faith Based and Neighborhoods Partnerships, where he served on the task force for environmental issues.
