James Barry is a marine ecologist with wide-ranging interests whose research program uses advanced undersea robotics to broaden our understanding of how fossil fuel emissions affect ocean ecosystems from the surface to the deep sea. In addition to publishing over 100 scientific papers, he has helped inform Congress and the public on ocean acidification, ocean carbon sequestration, and climate change. He is a contributing author to the IPCC Special Report on Carbon Capture and Storage, and is an author of the National Research Council’s report, Ocean Acidification: A National Strategy to Meet the Challenges of a Changing Ocean.
