Peter Huybers is a climate scientist and assistant professor of earth and planetary sciences at Harvard University. His focus is on understanding why and how the Earth's climate changes, particularly with respect to glaciation, ocean circulation, and surface temperature. In 1996, he received a B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point and subsequently served in the U.S. Army as a tank platoon leader. He went on to receive a PhD. in 2004 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and to complete a NOAA Postdoctoral Fellowship at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution. Last year he was awarded a MacArthur Foundation Fellowship and a Packard Fellowship for Science and Engineering.
