Pamela Ronald

Professor of Plant Pathology, University of California Davis, Co-author of "Tomorrow's Table: Organic Farming, Genetics and the Future of Food"

Pamela Ronald is a professor at the University of California, Davis, and is an elected fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.  Her laboratory has genetically engineered rice for resistance to diseases and flooding.  She and her colleagues were recipients of the USDA 2008 National Research Initiative Discovery Award for their work on submergence tolerant rice.  Ronald is co-author, with her husband Raoul Adamchak, of Tomorrow's Table: Organic Farming, Genetics and the Future of Food, which was recommended by Bill Gates as an important book for anyone that wants to learn about the science of seeds and the challenges faced by farmers.
