Speakers

Kara Mertz is assistant to the city manager for Boulder, Colorado, and project manager for Xcel Energy’s SmartGridCity project. Previously, she was Boulder’s recycling coordinator and environmental analyst. She also worked for five years as a regional recycling coordinator in the Bay Area of California and as a chief science officer for American Soil’s composting program in New Jersey. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin at Madison with a civil engineering degree.
