M. Sanjayan

Lead Scientist, The Nature Conservancy

M. Sanjayan is lead scientist for the Nature Conservancy, where he and his team provide the scientific underpinning for strategic decision-making and for ensuring that new science trends and risks are assimilated in the conservancy’s work. He is on the faculty of the wildlife program at the University of Montana, where his work focuses on how conservation is achieved in the poorest places on earth, the role of nature’s services in sustaining human communities, and the linkages between poverty and conservation. He hosted the BBC television documentary “Wildlife in a War Zone,” and most recently he cohosted Discovery’s “Expedition Alaska” and “Mysteries of the Shark Coast.” He is coeditor of Connectivity Conservation, a book about migrations and impediments to wildlife movement.
