Judy Pasternak

Judy Pasternak, a Los Angeles Times staff writer for 24 years in Los Angeles, Chicago, and Washington, is working on a book about the government’s betrayal of the Navajos for Cold War uranium, a 50-year chronicle of death and destruction. The book expands on a 2006 series she wrote for the Times that led to a congressional hearing and a five-year federal cleanup plan. The winner of many national awards for environmental and investigative journalism, she was a visiting scholar last fall at Stanford University. She is currently a consultant for the Investigative Reporting Workshop at American University.
