Elvis Mitchell

Host, The Treatment, KCRW

Elvis Mitchell has hosted “The Treatment,” an inside look at the creators of popular culture, since public radio station KCRW-Santa Monica first began producing the program in 1996. He has also served as a film critic at the New York Times and a visiting lecturer at Harvard University in visual and environmental studies and African-American studies. The former entertainment critic for NPR’s “Weekend Edition,” he has also been a film critic at the Fort Worth Star Telegram,  the Los Angeles Weekly, and the Detroit Free Press. He has been editor-at-large at Spin magazine and is a special correspondent for Interview magazine. He also hosts the Turner Classic Movies interview program “Under the Influence.” He produced and co-created “The Black List: Volume One,” a documentary on achievement in the African-American community that HBO acquired. "The Black List: Volume Two" began airing on HBO in February.
