Nancy Sutley

Chair, White House Council on Environmental Quality

Nancy Sutley chairs the White House Council on Environmental Quality.  Previously, she was deputy mayor for energy and environment for Los Angeles, where she served on the board of the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and chaired the water planning and stewardship committee.  An energy advisor to Governor Gray Davis, she managed state and federal regulations, legislative affairs, finances, and press relations, and she also served as deputy secretary for policy and intergovernmental relations in the California EPA, advising on water and air pollution policy and establishing budget and legislative priorities.  During the Clinton administration she worked for the EPA as a senior policy advisor to the regional administrator in San Francisco and as a special assistant to the administrator in Washington, DC.
