Robert Socolow

Professor of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Co-Principal Investigator, Princeton University's Carbon Mitigation Initiative

Robert Socolow is professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Princeton University. His current research focuses on the characteristics of a global energy system responsive to global and local environmental and security constraints. Specific areas of interest include carbon dioxide capture from fossil fuels and storage in geological formations, nuclear power, energy efficiency in buildings, and accelerating the deployment of advanced technologies in developing countries. He is coprincipal investigator of Princeton's Carbon Mitigation Initiative and a member of the National Academies’ committees on Ameriica's energy future and climate choices. A member of many engineering, energy, and environment committees and panels, he coedited Patient Earth, one of the first college textbooks in environmental studies.
