Tsutomu Toichi is the senior managing director and chief knowledge officer of the Institute of Energy Economics Japan. He is also a coresearcher of the International Research Center for Japanese Studies in Kyoto. His research interests are in the area of energy and climate security for sustainable development. Engaged for many years in Japan’s energy policymaking process as an expert member of various governmental committees, he is the author of a book in Japanese on Geopolitics of Energy in the 21st Century, as well as many articles about energy strategy in the age of global warming. For 18 years he has been a regular commentator on energy issues for Japan’s National Radio broadcast.
