Lorena Lanza is Nicaragua’s deputy minister of energy and mines. A civil engineer with a specialty in oil exploration and more than 18 years of experience in the petroleum sector, especially the reactivation of exploration activities in Nicaragua, her background includes managing technical teams for policy formulation and national strategies to develop renewable energy projects. She implements policies and professional programs and technical staff development in the energy sector, with an emphasis on the empowerment and professional development of women. She also presides over a regional forum of Central American hydrocarbon directors to identify joint operations and to implement regional integration and development of natural resources. She has represented Nicaragua at many national and international conferences on renewable energy resources.
