Mick Ireland is the mayor of Aspen. An attorney, consultant, substitute teacher in the Aspen school district, volunteer at many local agencies, and longtime Aspen resident, he has worked as a dishwasher, bus driver, waiter, journalist, and graphic designer and in a host of other entry-level service jobs. He practiced law in Aspen for five years before being appointed a Pitkin County commissioner. He served three terms on the board, chairing several regional resort and transportation planning groups and campaigning for affordable housing, environmental preservation, and growth management.
