Ligia Castro de Doens is minister of environmental affairs for the Republic of Panama and general administrator of the National Environmental Authority. A geographer with a background in biological and geographical sciences, she served previously as director of Centro del Agua del Tropico Humedo para America Latina y el Caribe, an international organization promoting sustainable development through research, education, and technology transfer. She has served as a member of the group of experts of the Global Water Partnership, an academic advisor to the School for International Training in the City of Knowledge, and a professor of human ecology at various universities in Panama. Widely known for her experience in environmental fields, she is also an expert in environmental politics.
