Chip Giller is the president and founder of Grist.org, an environmental news and commentary Web site based in Seattle. Named a “Hero of the Environment” by Time magazine, he received the 2006 National Conservation Achievement Award from the National Wildlife Federation and the 2004 Jane Bagley Lehman Award for Excellence in Public Advocacy from the Tides Foundation, in recognition of his role in increasing environmental awareness. Previously, he edited Greenwire, the first environmental news daily. He is a three-time journalism fellow of the Institutes for Journalism and Natural Resources and a senior fellow of the Environmental Leadership Program.
