Sarah Darby

Sarah Darby is the Research Councils' Energy Programme Research Fellow at the Environmental Change Institute at the University of Oxford, where she studies social, cultural and behavioural aspects of energy use with the lower carbon futures team. Her main interest is in the formal and informal processes by which householders learn about their energy use and possibilities for change, and in the development of “smart” metering and associated technologies. She is part of the evaluation team for the UK demand reduction trials of different types of feedback, and she has written and spoken widely on energy use in buildings in relation to user behavior, advice programs, technological developments, and equity issues. Previously, she was a board member and honorary secretary of Oxfam in the UK and Ireland.
