David Sandalow is an energy  and environment scholar and a senior fellow at the Brookings Institution. Author of the book Freedom from Oil, he chairs the energy and climate working group of the Clinton Global Initiative and is a senior adviser to Good Energies, Inc. He served as assistant secretary of state for oceans, environment, and science and was on the staffs of the National Security Council and White House Council on Environmental Quality. His opinion pieces and articles have appeared in many newspapers and other periodicals. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Law School and Yale College.
