John Woolard is CEO of BrightSource Energy and has more than two decades of experience in the energy technology sector as an executive, entrepreneur, and investor.  Previously, he cofounded Silicon Energy, one of the first successful clean tech companies, and was its president, CEO, and chairman of the board from 1997 to 2003.  He joined the executive team at Itron, Inc. following its acquisition of Silicon Energy and was vice president of software solutions and vice president of strategy and business development. He has held positions with VantagePoint Venture Partners CleanTech Group, Lawrence Berkeley National Labs, and Pacific Gas & Electric Company. A Crown Fellow at the Aspen Institute, he has served on many educational, nonprofit, and energy advisory boards.
