R. James Woolsey  is a venture partner with VantagePoint Venture Partners. He is also the Annenberg Distinguished Visiting Fellow at Stanford University’s Hoover Institution, senior executive advisor to Booz Allen Hamilton, of counsel to the law firm of Goodwin Procter, and chairman of the strategic advisory group of Paladin Capital Corporation. He was director of the Central Intelligence Agency, ambassador and chief negotiator for the Conventional Armed Forces in Europe Treaty, delegate at large to the Strategic Arms Reductions Talks, and under secretary of the Navy. He speaks and writes frequently on issues of national security, energy, foreign affairs, and intelligence.
