Elliot Gerson is executive vice president of policy and public programs and international partnerships at the Aspen Institute. A graduate of Harvard College, Oxford University, and Yale Law School, he serves as American secretary of the Rhodes Trust, managing the Rhodes scholarships, and he was a founding trustee of the Mandela Rhodes Foundation, which focuses on African high education and leadership. He also sits on the board of a company dedicated to the economic development of Afghanistan. A former U.S. Supreme Court clerk, his career has included the practice of law, executive positions in state and federal government and a presidential campaign, management of several insurance and healthcare companies, and service on many nonprofit boards, especially in the arts and humanities.
