Paul Nicklen is a nature photojournalist who worked as a wildlife biologist for four years in the Northwest Territories, concentrating on such species as lynx, grizzly bears, bison, caribou, and polar bears. He also completed a three-month solo expedition into the high Arctic, living on the open tundra with bears and wolves. Most recently, he has photographed natural history stories on topics such as Atlantic salmon, leopard seals, and the Phoenix Islands for National Geographic, bridging the gap between scientific research and the public. He is the recipient of many photo awards, and his first book is Seasons of the Arctic.
