William Yellowtail is a Crow Indian and current holder of the Katz Endowed Chair in Native American Studies at Montana State University. A former regional director of the Environmental Protection Agency, he was also senior project specialist at the Cook Center for Sustainable Agriculture in the American West, executive director of the Montana Intertribal Policy Board, director of human resources development and education for the Crow tribe, a consultant on Western issues, and a board member for many national, regional, and state organizations. He served three terms as a Montana state senator and currently is a board member of the National Audubon Society.
