André Kamdem Toham is Congo Basin forest partnership manager for the WWF’s Central Africa regional program. He manages eight conservation landscapes and fosters public-private and civil society partnerships to advance sustainable forest management. He has explored and surveyed many areas in West and Central Africa, and his work in fish taxonomy and community ecology has enabled him to assess the impact of deforestation and environmental degradation on freshwater resources. He also developed a biodiversity conservation vision for the Congo Basin forest and rivers, and together with the Wildlife Conservation Society he helped create 13 national parks in Gabon as well as networks of protected land areas in both Cameroon and the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
