Wayne Shepperd is a consulting silviculturist who retired in January 2007 from a career at the U.S. Forest Service Rocky Mountain Research Station in Fort Collins, Colorado. A Colorado native, he is a recognized expert on the ecology, growth, and management of Rocky Mountain forests and an affiliate faculty member in the department of forest, rangeland, and watershed stewardship at Colorado State University. The author of more than 100 research publications, he continues to work part-time as a forestry consultant developing alternative forest management strategies for today's increasingly complex natural resource environment.
