Charles Vörösmarty

Charles Vörösmarty is a research full professor at the University of New Hampshire’s Institute for the Study of Earth, Oceans, and Space and the founder and director of its Water Systems Analysis Group. He develops computer models and data sets to study interactions among the water cycle, climate, biogeochemistry, and human activities, and he analyzes the impact of large-scale water engineering, pollution, population-water interactions, dams and reservoirs, and floods and droughts. A founding member of the Global Water System Project of the International Council of Scientific Unions, he leads its efforts to develop indicators of water stress and analyze coastal zone risks associated with water diversion. He has also served as a consultant to the UN World Water Assessment Programme.
