Tim Appenzeller is the executive editor of National Geographic. He has spent more than 20 years as a writer and editor for publications that include Time-Life Books, Scientific American, The Sciences, Science, and U.S. News & World Report. At Science, he edited and wrote news stories on the physical sciences and was responsible for coordinating news and feature stories on both biology and the physical sciences. At U.S. News, he wrote occasional stories on cosmology and physics for the science section and edited the magazine's health and medicine coverage.
