Speakers

Juan Marco Alvarez is executive director of SalvaNATURA, El Salvador's premier environmental nonprofit organization, and a fellow of the Central America Leadership Initiative. He has worked on national park and integrated watershed management, conservation science, sustainable development, tropical agricultural research, and environmental education and has promoted certification and best practices for El Salvador’s agriculture and tourism industries. He has also served on the advisory council of El Salvador’s Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources. A member of the board of directors of the World Conservation Union (International Union for the Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources), he is the author of A Decade of the Environment and Sustainable Development.
