Robert Stanton is a lifelong conservationist and public administrator who served as director of the National Park Service from 1997 to 2001. He began his federal career as a seasonal National Park ranger at Grand Teton National Park and went on to serve as a personnel management and public information specialist, park superintendent, and regional director of the National Capital Region in Washington, D.C. Active in professional and civic affairs, he now serves on many conservation foundation and association boards.
