James Howard Kunstler is the author of fourteen books, including ten novels and four non-fiction works on cities, suburbs, and the global energy predicament. His titles include The Geography of Nowhere, "about the tragic landscape of highway strips, parking lots, housing tracts, mega-malls, junked cities, and ravaged countryside that make up the everyday environment where most Americans live and work," and The Long Emergency, on the challenges posed by the coming global oil crisis, climate change, "and other converging catastrophes of the 21st century." He has worked as a reporter and feature writer for a number of newspapers and also as a staff writer for Rolling Stone. He is writing a new book about the diminishing returns of technology.
