Jonathan Overpeck, who is known to many as "Peck", is a founding co-director of the Institute of the Environment, as well as a Professor of Geosciences and a Professor of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Arizona. Additionally, he is a principal investigator for the Climate Assessment for the Southwest Project, as well as of the Southwest Climate Science Center. His research programs are most commonly focused on providing insights from Earth’s deep past on how key aspects of the climate system may change in the future. Dr. Overpeck has contributed over 150 papers in climate and the environmental sciences, and served as a Coordinating Lead Author for the Nobel Prize winning IPCC Fourth Assessment (2007). His honors include the Walter Orr Roberts Award of the American Meteorological Society for his interdisciplinary research. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
